"This report uses data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics' (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) to examine the race and Hispanic origin of victims age 12 or older and offenders of violent victimizations. Violent victimization includes rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault. Intraracial victimizations include victims and offenders who were both or all white; black; American Indian or Alaska Native; Asian, Native Hawaiian, or Other Pacific Islander; or of Hispanic origin. Interracial victimizations include victims and offenders who were not the same race or Hispanic origin, victims of two or more races, single offenders of two or more races, and multiple offenders of various races (mixed race offender group).
"This report primarily uses data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) for the 10-year aggregate period 2006-15 to examine reporting of nonfatal domestic violence victimizations to police and police response to these victimizations. National domestic violence includes serious violence (rape or sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault) and simple assaults committed by intimate partners, immediate family members, or other relatives. Data are based on victims' descriptions of police actions during their initial response and any follow-up actions. This report also includes data on the prevalence of arrests or charges filed related to these domestic violence victimizations and on the role of signed criminal complaints. Unless otherwise noted, the comparisons in this report are significant at the 95% confidence level.".
"This report describes and compares the characteristics of student and nonstudent female victims of rape and sexual assault, the attributes of the victimization, and the characteristics of the offender. The findings are from the Bureau of Justice Statistics' (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), which collects information on nonfatal crimes reported and not reported to police against persons age 12 or older. Rape and sexual assault are defined by the NCVS to include completed and attempted rape, completed and attempted sexual assault, and threats of rape or sexual assault (see Methodology). Unless otherwise noted, this report presents aggregate estimates of rape and sexual assault victimization for the period 1995 through 2013. Aggregating data across the period increases the reliability and precision of estimates and facilitates comparisons of detailed victimization characteristics."
