The Interlibrary Services Department provides a means for prompt delivery of books, articles and other resources not owned by APU to support the research and teaching needs of our students, faculty, and staff. Please note that a patron must owe less than $5 in fines to utilize this service.
Interlibrary Loan is a library service that borrows items from other libraries for our APU students, faculty, and staff. Items borrowed from other libraries are items not available at any of the APU libraries. Items that Interlibrary Loan will borrow for our APU patrons:
Ebooks and media items may not be borrowed for our APU patrons.
You can manually initiate a request by filling out the Interlibrary Loan Request Form, by using the "Request via Interlibrary Loan" button when discovering a non-APU owned item in the catalog, or by using the Full Text Finder/Citation Finder in our article databases
Most article requests are emailed to the patron's email. For other items, you will be able to pickup your material at the library you identified when requesting the item. You will receive an email notification when an item is available to pick up at your selected library.
Patrons who are studying online or live more than 15 miles from the main Azusa campus can have their items mailed to their house via Document Delivery.
For all Azusa campus patrons, Interlibrary Loan materials must be returned or renewed on or before the due date. Book drops are located at the entrance to each library. In addition, a return depository is located at the sidewalk leading up to the Darling Library.
For online and regional campus patrons, Interlibrary Loan materials can be returned by mail using the postage-paid mailing label included in your package via Document Delivery.
Materials may be renewed by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Department directly either by phone, email or in person.
For articles, there is no overdue or lost policy.
For books, Interlibrary Loan sends an overdue notice as a reminder to the patron to return or renew the book. If the patron does not return or renew the item within seven days of the notice, books will be fined at $1.00 per day.
Materials will be billed for replacement and processing fees assessed if materials are excessively overdue. The replacement fee will be determined by the lending library and not APU. All fines and fees are charged to the patron's account.
Outstanding debts may result in the suspension of all library privileges until the debt is resolved.
The office is located on the main level, east wing of the Marshburn Library on APU's East Campus. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. You may contact the office by phone, email, or in person during the hours of operation.
The University Libraries are able to mail materials to students, faculty and staff at Azusa Pacific University's Regional Campuses or those who live more than 15 miles from our main campus. Material that can be sent includes:
Items can be requested directly from our catalog using the "Request" button in our library catalog and then selecting the "By Mail" option for pickup. You may also fill out the Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan Request form to manually initiate a request. Forms must be completed correctly or they will not be processed. Requests by phone or email are not accepted.
There is no charge to request books, media items, or test kits, and return postage is included for returning these items to the Azusa campus. The library will also send copies of APU-owned articles via email.
Dependent upon the item availability, items will be mailed or emailed within 2 business days of receipt of your request. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) books that need to be mailed out will take a few days longer as those items must first be delivered to APU from the lending library before we are able to ship the item back out.
