Library Research for ALCI Level 3 & 4 Capstone Course

Locating Books & Ebooks

Search Everything
  • Go to the Library website: www.apu.edu/library
  • Type in your keywords in the box next to the drop-down box labeled “Search Everything” to DISCOVER books, articles, and journals that are available from APU and other libraries. Then click “Go”.
APU Catalog
  • Go to the Library website: www.apu.edu/library
  • Change the dropdown box to “APU Catalog” to search for books in the library. Then click “Go”.
Link+
  • Titles of the 30 million books owned by 53 participating libraries in Link+. This service is free.
  • Click “Request this Item” when viewing a book record, and select a pickup location. Regional Center students should select “By Mail” as their pickup location. Mailing is free, with return postage included. You can also pick up items at any LINK+ participating library (see the list by going to http://apu-csul.apu.edu:2083/screens/help_pu_anywhere.html).

Locating Databases & Articles

Databases
  • From the library website, click on “Articles & Databases
  • Under “Choose databases by Subject or Major”, click on the topic of your research.
  • Suggested Databases: CQ Researcher, Credo Reference, Academic Search Premier, or Ebsco Discovery
  • Select a database to get started
Journals
  • From the library website, click on “Journal Titles”.
  • Type in the Journal you are looking for, browse particular volumes/issues
  • You can select “Article Finder” to search for a particular article in the library or request it from another library. Requesting from another library is a free service for APU students.
To view databases in other Subjects go to the A-Z Database page. Then click on the Subject that you are interested in.

For instance if you are doing a project about the pressures of playing and learning the piano, you would select the subject heading "Music" or if you are doing a project about how covid-19 has impacted the spiritual health of the church you would select "Ministry".
